ALPURT Investigations
Consultation and stakeholder management on SH1 Realignment EIA (later known as ALPURT). Included the lifting of a designation from Silverdale to Hatfields Beach and the selection of a new route through to Titfords Bridge. Transit, BCHF, and Dialogue received a New Zealand Planning Institute Project Award in recognition of excellence.
Tauranga Joyce Road Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade
The new Joyce Road treatment plant was the first in New Zealand to use microfiltration technology for public water supply. An established advocacy group opposed the use of microfiltration preferring an unproven method. The extensive consultation included a series of public hearings, and a community liaison group with wide representation.
Over the last 20 years Dialogue has undertaken a wide range of consultations for public policy, infrastructure, industry development. These projects have included a range of contentious issues, including water fluoridation, the introduction of water meters and bridge tolls, new landfills, motorways, wastewater and water treatment plants, transmission lines and power stations. Dialogue has ensured that the issues and concerns of communities, (sometimes aggressive) lobby groups, and local, regional and national agencies have been considered while enabling the projects to proceed. As part of this work, staff have presented expert evidence at Boards of Inquiry, Designation Hearings and the Environment Court.
Auckland Eastern Transport Corridor Phase 1
As Deputy Team Leader, Peter Phillips designed and implemented the communications and consultation for this extensive investigation of transport linking Manukau and Auckland cities. Wellington Regional Water Supply Fluoridation Review
The brief for this consultation on the fluoridation of the Region's bulk water supplies included specific reference to the unfluoridated supply to Petone. Included hearings by a specially constituted review panel similar to a Parliamentary Select Committee. A parallel consultation process was conducted with Tangata Whenua.
