Turitea wind farm evidence on social effects
Peter Phillips provided rebuttal evidence today to the Board of Inquiry on the proposal by Mighty River Power to build a new wind farm in the Tararua Ranges east of Palmerston North. The evidence was prepared to assist the Board assess a social impact assessment (SIA) written by a member of a team retained by Palmerston North City Council to evaluate the project. Despite the SIA being undertaken by a reputable firm, Peter Phillips found a significant number of concerns related to method, coverage and interpretation. Peter Phillips also commented on evidence of other witnesses where this relied on the SIA or failed to meet normal standards of social science practice.
